Alexander Titov
Born in 1954 in St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad), Russia, Alexander Titov is a distinguished Russian conductor. He pursued his musical education at the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, where he specialized in choral conducting under Professor A. Mikhailov, piano under Professor V. Gentsler, and operatic-symphonic conducting under Professor Ilya Musin. Titov graduated in 1976 and 1981, respectively. His career began in 1976 as an assistant to renowned conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Mstislav Rostropovich. By 1988, he was a prize-winner at the International Min-On Competition in Tokyo.

Titov has held the position of conductor at the Mariinsky (formerly Kirov) Opera and Ballet Theatre since 1989 and has been a regular guest conductor with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. His extensive repertoire includes operas and ballets by Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich, and he has recorded over 70 CDs. Titov's contributions to music have been recognized with several awards, including the Golden Masque Prize (2001) and the Golden Soffit (2002).
