Alejandro Valdés y Palo de Agua
Alejandro Valdés Reyes, born in 1988, is a renowned Cuban guitarist, composer, and producer, celebrated for his exceptional contributions to the genre of Flamenco. Recognized as one of Cuba's finest Flamenco guitarists, Valdés's musical journey began in his teenage years when he pursued courses in guitar and percussion. By 2004, he had already taken on the role of musical director for various groups, eventually founding his own band, Palo de Agua, in 2016.

Palo de Agua quickly captivated Cuban audiences with their dynamic live performances, which often included a group of dancers to deliver a full Flamenco experience. The band's innovative approach to Flamenco, which Valdés describes as "New Flamenco of Cuba," reflects a fusion of traditional Flamenco with Cuban musical influences. This unique style is showcased in their debut album, "Calles del Olvido," released on June 25, 2021. The album is a testament to Valdés's virtuosic guitar skills and the band's collective artistry, featuring a blend of fiery songwriting and hypnotic instrumental passages.

In 2018, Palo de Agua received the prestigious national prize "Cuerda Viva" in the category of Flamenco, highlighting their significant impact on the Cuban music scene. Valdés's work is deeply rooted in his Cuban identity, drawing from the rich tapestry of African and Spanish traditions that define the island's culture. Through his music, Valdés continues to explore and express the diverse influences that shape his creative process, making a lasting mark on the world of Flamenco.
