Alberto Domínguez Borrás was a renowned Mexican composer and marimbist, born on April 21, 1913, in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. He passed away on September 2, 1975, in Mexico City. Domínguez began his musical career in the family marimba ensemble, Los Hermanos Domínguez, which was well-known in Mexico. He is most celebrated for his compositions "Frenesí" and "Perfidia," both written in 1939, which became standards of Latin jazz and were recorded by numerous artists, including Pérez Prado and Xavier Cugat.
