Albert von Tilzer
Albert Von Tilzer, born Albert Gumm on March 29, 1878, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a prominent American songwriter known for his significant contributions to Tin Pan Alley music. He was the younger brother of fellow songwriter Harry Von Tilzer, and like his brother, he adopted the name Von Tilzer, which was derived from their mother's maiden name with an added Germanic flair.

Albert began his career in music as a music director for a vaudeville troupe and worked briefly at his brother Harry's publishing company. He later formed his own publishing firm, The York Publishing Company, before joining his brother Will's company. Throughout his career, Albert collaborated with many lyricists, including Jack Norworth, with whom he co-wrote the iconic song "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." This song remains one of his most enduring legacies and was listed as number 8 on the list of Songs of the Century.

Albert Von Tilzer's prolific songwriting career spanned from 1900 to the early 1950s, during which he composed numerous popular songs such as "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey," "I May Be Gone for a Long, Long Time," and "Oh By Jingo!" His work extended to Broadway, where he composed scores for musicals like "Honey Girl" and "The Gingham Girl."

Albert Von Tilzer passed away on October 1, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a rich legacy of American popular music.
