Adolfo Leandro Carabelli (8 September 1893 - 25 January 1947) was a distinguished Argentine pianist, composer, and bandleader associated with the tango musical genre during its Golden Age. Born in San Fernando, Buenos Aires, Carabelli received classical music training from a young age, studying piano, composition, harmony, and counterpoint. His education included time at the Lyceum of Bologna in Italy, where he studied under prominent maestros such as Alberto D'Erasmo and Ferruccio Busoni.

Carabelli's career took a significant turn in 1917 when he was introduced to jazz by pianist Lipoff, leading him to form the River Jazz Band. He later led his own orchestra, Adolfo Carabelli y su Orquesta, known for its tango performances. His orchestra was sometimes referred to as Adolfo Carabelli y su Orquesta Típica or Adolfo Carabelli y su Jazz Band. Carabelli also directed the renowned Orquesta Típica Victor.

Throughout his career, Carabelli recorded numerous pieces, including well-known tangos such as “Mi refugio” (1931), “Cantando”, “Felicia” (1932), and “Inspiración” (1932). His contributions to tango and jazz in Argentina left a lasting legacy, although he was somewhat underrated during his lifetime. Carabelli passed away alone in his home in San Fernando in 1947, leaving behind a rich musical heritage.
