Nicola Piovani, born on May 26, 1946, in Rome, Italy, is a renowned Italian classical musician and composer known for his work in theater and film scores. After completing high school, he pursued a degree in piano at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan in 1967 and studied orchestration under the Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis. Piovani's career in film music began in 1968, and he has since composed over 130 film scores. He is particularly celebrated for his collaborations with director Federico Fellini, providing scores for Fellini's last three films: "Ginger e Fred," "Intervista," and "La voce della luna."

Piovani gained international acclaim when he won the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score in 1999 for Roberto Benigni's film "Life Is Beautiful" (La Vita è bella), a score that was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
