Joan Orleans
Joan Orleans, born as Joan Schmitt-Parks in New Orleans, Louisiana, is an American singer known for her contributions to both pop and gospel music. She gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s as a pop singer before returning to her gospel roots in the 1990s. Orleans moved to Germany in 1976, where she recorded the single "Go Go" for Philips in 1977. She was signed to Ralph Siegel's label, Jupiter Records, where she released a series of singles ranging from disco to pop ballads, produced by Siegel and Horst Hornung.

In 1981, her appearance on the television show "Bio's Bahnhof" boosted her popularity. Her 1982 single "I'm Still Crazy About You" was featured on the soundtrack of the film "Die Jäger." By the late 1980s, she collaborated with producer Nigel Wright, releasing two pop albums. Her 1989 album "With You or Never" included a track by the renowned producer team Stock Aitken Waterman. Orleans also appeared on the TV show "Verstehen Sie Spaß?" that year.

In the 1990s, Orleans focused on gospel music, releasing several albums in the genre. In 1998, she starred in the musical "Mahalia," about gospel legend Mahalia Jackson, which premiered at the Stadttheater Amberg and toured extensively. Throughout her career, Orleans has performed with artists like Peter Horton and Marc Marshall.
