Al Bano
Albano Antonio Carrisi, known professionally as Al Bano, was born on May 20, 1943, in Cellino San Marco, Italy. His unique name was inspired by his father's military service in Albania during World War II. Al Bano's career in music began in the mid-1960s after he moved to Milan and was discovered by a producer. He gained initial recognition at the Festival delle Rose in 1966 and achieved significant success with his hit "Nel sole" in 1967, which sold over a million copies.

In 1970, Al Bano married Romina Power, the daughter of Hollywood actor Tyrone Power. Together, they formed the popular musical duo Al Bano & Romina Power, achieving international fame with hits like "Felicità" and "Ci sarà." The duo participated in the Eurovision Song Contest twice and frequently appeared at the Sanremo Music Festival, winning in 1984. Al Bano's operatic vocal style and extensive vocal range contributed to his global recognition.

Despite separating from Romina Power in 1999 and divorcing in 2012, Al Bano continued his solo career, releasing numerous albums and participating in various music festivals. In 2016, he was awarded Albanian citizenship due to his connections with the country. As of 2023, Al Bano remains an active figure in the music industry, celebrated for his contributions to Italian pop music.
