Frank Farian
Franz Reuther, known professionally as Frank Farian, was born on July 18, 1941, in Kirn, Germany. Raised by his mother after his father was killed in World War II, Farian initially trained as a cook before discovering rock and roll. He formed a band called Frankie Boys Schatten and released their first single "Shouting Ghost" in 1964, which was unsuccessful. Farian gained recognition in the music industry as a German record producer and singer, founding the 1970s disco-pop group Boney M. and the pop bands No Mercy and Milli Vanilli. He was known for creating vocal groups where publicized members lip-synced to songs sung by session performers. Farian owned the record label MCI and several subsidiaries.

In his early career, Farian released a cover of Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful" in 1967 and later achieved a No. 1 hit in Germany with his cover of "Rocky" in 1976. He co-wrote and produced hits like "Skateboard" for Copains. His creation, Boney M., became a global success with hits such as "Daddy Cool" and "Rivers of Babylon". Farian also formed the supergroup Far Corporation, which had a top 10 UK hit with their cover of "Stairway to Heaven" in 1985. He worked with Meat Loaf, producing and mixing the album "Blind Before I Stop" in 1986.

Frank Farian passed away on January 23, 2024, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 82. His career spanned from 1958 to 2024, leaving a lasting impact on the music industry.
