He is the son of Billy Alsbrooks Sr., a guitar player at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, and musician Terrie Fleming. Alsbrooks moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1989, where he began his music career by distributing tapes at a local record store and joining the Jam Pony DJs. He attended the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute, majoring in Music and Video Business.

As White Dawg, Alsbrooks released several rap albums, including his first national full-length album, "Thug Ride," in 1999, which featured the Billboard-charting single "Restless."
