Dorota Kowalewska
Dorota Kowalewska is a distinguished Polish musical theater artist, renowned for her extensive career at the Teatr Muzyczny in Gdynia. Born in Olsztyn, she is an alumna of the Vocal and Acting School named after D. Baduszkowa in Gdynia, where she studied under prominent figures such as Małgorzata Ząbkowska and Henryk Bista. Kowalewska has been a member of the theater ensemble since 1989 and has portrayed numerous roles in musical productions, most notably the titular role in "Evita."
Her repertoire includes performances in "Les Miserables" as Fantine, "Chicago" as Velma Kelly, and "Jesus Christ Superstar" as Mary Magdalene, among others. She has also appeared in productions like "Cud albo Krakowiaki i Górale," "Shrek," and "Piękna i bestia." Kowalewska's talent has been recognized with several awards, including the main prize at the Festiwal Ogródkowy in Warsaw for "Roxi Bar" in 2005 and the President of Gdynia's Award for her role in "Evita" in 1997.
In addition to her theater work, she has performed in operettas at the Teatr Wielki in Łódź and has shown interests in esotericism, painting, and literature. Her contributions to the arts were also honored with the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Award during the 50th anniversary of the theater in 2008.
