Ange Lorenzo
Ange Lorenzo was born on February 5, 1894, in West Branch, Michigan, and passed away on April 22, 1971, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a multifaceted musician, known for his roles as a composer, conductor, pianist, and singer. Lorenzo's musical journey began after high school when he served in the 28th Coast Artillery Band during World War I. Following his military service, he worked as a pianist for music publishers and became part of the Jack & Jerry singing team on WJR in Detroit.

Lorenzo's career expanded as he joined the Jean Goldkette and Seymour Simons orchestras as a pianist. He later formed his own group, the Tunesters orchestra, and directed music for the A. B. Marcus shows. By 1940, he had joined the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), collaborating with notable songwriters such as Richard Whiting, Raymond Egan, Gus Kahn, and Joseph Alden.

Ange Lorenzo is perhaps best remembered for composing the popular song "Sleepy Time Gal," written in 1925. His other well-known compositions include "Watching For Your Shadow," "Sweet Forget-Me-Not," "Dreamy Dream Girl," and "I've Waited for This." Throughout his career, Lorenzo's work was recorded by various artists and orchestras, leaving a lasting impact on the world of jazz and popular music.
