Jules LeMare
Jules LeMare was an alias used by the American composer and music publishing executive Charles N. Daniels. Born on April 12, 1878, in Leavenworth, Kansas, and passing away on January 23, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, Daniels was a prolific figure in early American music. He was known for employing various pseudonyms throughout his career, including Neil Moret, L'Albert, Paul Bertrand, Julian Strauss, and Sidney Carter, among others.
Under the alias Jules LeMare, Daniels co-authored the song "Sweet and Lovely." His career was marked by significant contributions to the music industry, both as a composer and as a publisher. Daniels' work spanned various genres, and he was involved in the popularization of ragtime music. His notable compositions include "Chloe (Song of the Swamp)" and "She's Funny That Way," among others.
Daniels was also a music publishing executive, having formed the Daniels and Russel publishing firm in Saint Louis and later working with Jerome H. Remick & Co. His influence extended into the film music industry, and he continued to write and publish music under his various pseudonyms throughout his life.
