Gerald Valentine
Gerald Graham Valentine (September 13, 1914 – October 1983) was an American jazz trombonist and arranger known for his contributions to the jazz scene in the mid-20th century. Born in Chicago, Valentine received formal training in music during his youth, studying piano, composition, and music theory, while teaching himself to play the trombone.

In the early 1940s, Valentine began his career by composing and arranging for Earl Hines and collaborating with musicians such as Dallas Bartley and King Kolax in Chicago. He also managed bookings for the Club DeLisa. From 1944 to 1947, he was a member of Billy Eckstine's band, later working with Wynonie Harris and Buddy DeFranco.

During the early 1950s, Valentine served as an artist and repertory man for National Records. He continued to perform and arrange music, playing with Gene Ammons in 1954 and crafting arrangements for Pepper Adams, Art Farmer, and Coleman Hawkins in the Prestige Blues Swingers during 1958-1959.

Valentine's discography includes notable recordings such as "Outskirts of Town" (Prestige, 1958) and "Stasch" (Swingville, 1959). His work remains a testament to his skill as both a musician and an arranger in the jazz genre.
