Rhoda Roberts
Rhoda Ann Roberts AO, born in 1960 in Canterbury, New South Wales, Australia, is a distinguished Australian theatre and arts director, arts executive, television presenter, and actor. As a Bundjalung woman of the Widjabul/Wiyebal clan, she is a respected Aboriginal elder, known as "Aunty Rhoda." Her career has been marked by significant contributions to Indigenous arts and culture. She co-founded the Aboriginal National Theatre Trust in 1987 and was the head of Indigenous programming at the Sydney Opera House from 2012 to 2021. Roberts also founded the Festival of the Dreaming in 1997 and served as a cultural advisor for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Her work extends to television, where she has written, produced, and presented, and she has been involved in numerous stage productions as an actor, writer, and director. Roberts' family background is rich in activism and cultural advocacy, with her father and grandfather being notable figures in the Aboriginal rights movement. She was married to Bill Hunter from 1993 to 1999 and has three children.
