King Oliver
Joseph Nathan "King" Oliver (December 19, 1881 – c. April 10, 1938) was an influential American jazz cornet player and bandleader. Born in Aben, Louisiana, Oliver became a prominent figure in the early development of jazz music, particularly in the Dixieland genre. His career spanned from 1907 to 1937, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of jazz. Oliver is best known for his work as a bandleader and for mentoring the legendary Louis Armstrong. His contributions to jazz have left a lasting legacy, despite facing hardships in his later years. Oliver passed away in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 56.
