Boguslaw Grabowski
Bogusław Grabowski, born in 1955 in Sopot, Poland, is a distinguished organist, composer, and professor at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. He specializes in organ performance, practical harmony, liturgical accompaniment, organ improvisation, and the construction and acoustics of organs. As the founder and long-time head of the Department of Church Music at the Gdańsk Academy of Music, Grabowski has significantly contributed to the field of organ music. He collaborates with various organ-building companies, providing consultancy and expertise, and has been instrumental in projects like the organ for the Department of Church Music and the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Gdańsk.
Since 1985, he has served as the Chief Organist at the Co-Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary in Gdańsk, where he was previously involved in the committee for the construction of the church's organs. Grabowski is a prominent figure in the musical life of Gdańsk and the Pomerania region, having organized over 1,000 concerts as part of international festivals and concert series, including the Mariackie Organ Evenings and Music at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Gdańsk.
He is also the director of the annual International Festival of Organ, Choral, and Chamber Music held at the Gdańsk Basilica of St. Mary. Grabowski has performed extensively in Poland and internationally, including in countries such as Germany, England, Denmark, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, and Russia. His discography includes several albums featuring organ music, his own compositions with choirs and symphony orchestras, and improvisations.
