Kansas City Five
Kansas City Five was a jazz quintet led by Eddie Durham and Buck Clayton that recorded in 1938. The group consisted of Buck Clayton on trumpet, Eddie Durham on trombone and guitar, Freddie Green on guitar, Walter Page on bass, and Jo Jones on drums. Their recordings from that year include tracks such as "Laughing At Life," "Good Mornin' Blues," "I Know That You Know," and "Love Me Or Leave Me." In 1938, the group was augmented by the addition of Lester Young and recorded as Kansas City Six. The Kansas City Five was known for its contributions to the jazz genre during this period, with their music being released on labels like Commodore and Columbia.
