Harvey Chambers
Harvey Baker Chambers was a country singer, guitarist, and songwriter born on April 25, 1916, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was known for his work in traditional country and rockabilly music. Alongside his wife, Mattie Chambers, Harvey wrote and recorded several songs. In 1955, they recorded "Gumbo Jubilee" and "Crawfish Gumbo" on Bennie Hess' Jet label in Hollywood, California. The couple had songwriting contracts with Acuff-Rose and penned their own music, including their most successful song, "Big Sandy," recorded by Little Jimmy Dickens in 1956.

In the late 1950s, Harvey Chambers ventured into rockabilly, recording "New Way Rockin" and "Girl In Red Blue Jeans" in 1957 for Goldband Records in Lake Charles, Louisiana, under the alias Hopeless Homer. These recordings showcased his talents as both a lead guitarist and vocalist.

Harvey Chambers' career was cut short when he died of lung cancer on January 18, 1958, in Alexandria, Louisiana, at the age of 41. His contributions to country and rockabilly music remain a testament to his musical talent and creativity.
