A. Clements
Alex Clements is a distinguished Canadian jazz pianist, composer, and educator, renowned for his vibrant and rhythmic musical style. A child prodigy, Clements began his musical journey at the age of four, winning numerous piano competitions in Canada. His talent quickly gained international recognition, leading to performances across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Among his accolades is the Alberta Achievement Award, presented by the Government of Canada.

Clements holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California, a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from McGill University, and a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music. He also possesses two associateship performance diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music and Mount Royal College Conservatory of Music, where he received a gold medal and scholarship.

His career includes a significant tenure as the Associate Musical Director for Cirque du Soleil’s acclaimed show “O,” where he performed for audiences of over 1800. Clements is currently an Associate Professor of Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music and teaches jazz and commercial piano, composition, and arranging at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Clements is a versatile composer, recognized for his commissions for the Montreal Jazz Big Band and his work in film scores, including projects for Disney and the Rockefeller Center. His compositions span various styles, including jazz, Afro-Cuban, and classical. Notable works include the suite “Jazz Images” and the orchestral piece “The Mosaic House.” He has also received numerous awards, including an AEGIS award for his score in the film documentary "Lewis and Clark: Following their Footsteps."

As a recording artist, Clements has released several albums, including "Suite No. 3 ‘The Cycle of Life’," "Emily’s Song," and "Waiting for you…," which featured renowned drummer Danny Gottlieb and achieved significant chart success. His collaborative album "Between Stops" involves musicians from Cirque du Soleil. Clements continues to contribute to the music world through performances, recordings, and his dedication to education.
