Garth Edmundson
Garth C. Edmundson was an American organist, composer, music director, and music teacher born on April 11, 1892, in Pennsylvania, and passed away on April 2, 1971, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Edmundson received formal music training in Pittsburgh, New York, London, Paris, and at the Leipzig Conservatory, studying under notable instructors such as Harvey Gaul, Lynnwood Farnam, Joseph Bonnet, and Isidor Philipp. His career included roles as an organist, music teacher, and director of music at various churches and schools in western Pennsylvania. He began his professional journey at the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle and St. Mary Church.

Edmundson was a prolific composer, creating hundreds of compositions for the organ, including notable works like "Impression Gothiques," "Imagery in Tableaux," and "Vom Himmel Hoch." His contributions to music were recognized with an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. He was affiliated with ASCAP and the Trinity Episcopal Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Some of his selected published works include "Christus Advenit (Christmas Suite No.2)," "Four Modern Preludes on Old Chorals," and "Seven Modern Preludes on Ancient Themes."
