Mario Schönhofer
Mario Schönhofer is a distinguished composer and producer, renowned for his work with the duo Ströme. He is celebrated as a pioneer in the integration of modular synthesizer artistry with traditional musicality. Schönhofer's musical journey began with his studies at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, after which he collaborated with several prominent artists from the 1980s and 1990s. His deep involvement in analog sound generation is exemplified by his collaboration with Dieter Doepfer and his friendship with electronic music pioneer Eberhard Schoener. Schönhofer had the privilege of using Schoener’s iconic Moog IIIp synthesizer, famously used by the Beatles and Giorgio Moroder, until it was transferred to the Deutsches Museum in Munich in 2019. His performances are known for their blend of technology and musical sensitivity, pushing the boundaries of electronic music through the expressive potential of modular synthesizers. In 2021, he played at the Ambient Waves Festival in Munich, showcasing his expertise on the SW-3P 2020 modular synthesizer. Additionally, he has performed with the band La Brass Banda, further highlighting his versatility as a musician.
