Csaba Schmitz
Csaba Schmitz, born in 1969 in Budapest, is a renowned drummer and music educator who has made significant contributions to the international music scene. Raised in Bavaria from the age of four, Schmitz's bicultural background influenced his understanding of diverse musical worlds. He began his formal music education with drum lessons from 1983 to 1990, later studying at Drummer's Focus in Munich and the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz. He also pursued musicology and music pedagogy at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.

Schmitz's professional career took off as a member of the jazz ensemble MindGames from 1987 to 2000, during which the group received multiple awards, including the Burghausen and Rosenheim Jazz Promotion Prizes, and achieved second place in the European Jazz Competitions in Leverkusen and Krakow. In 1991, he began working as a freelance drummer and has since collaborated with numerous international artists and bands, including A-ha, Ian Anderson, Chris de Burgh, and Roger Hodgson.

In 2005, Schmitz joined the Mandoki Soulmates, performing in concerts and recordings across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. He is also a member of the Howard Carpendale Band since 2015 and Leo Meixner's Cubaboarisch 2.0 since 2018. Schmitz has been active in music education, teaching drums at Musikzentrum Müller since 2006, and completed training as a certified music teacher and band coach in 2014.

Schmitz's expertise and versatility have made him a sought-after drummer for various genres, from jazz and soul to pop and rock, showcasing his ability to adapt and excel in different musical settings.
