The Danubia Symphony Orchestra, also known as Óbudai Danubia Zenekar, was founded in 1993 in Budapest, Hungary, by Domonkos Héja and a group of young musicians, primarily students from the Bartók Béla Conservatory of Music. Over the years, the orchestra has established itself as a prominent entity in the Hungarian music scene. In 2001, it was recognized as the National Youth Orchestra for three years.

The orchestra has collaborated with esteemed Hungarian and international conductors like Ken-Ichiro, Yuriy Simonov, José Cura, Rico Saccani, and Sir Neville Marriner. A significant milestone in its development occurred in 2013 when Máté Hámori became the artistic director, bringing a fresh image and strategy to the ensemble. Under his leadership, the orchestra expanded its youth programs, increased the number of concerts, and enhanced its professional reputation.

The Danubia Symphony Orchestra is known for its innovative approach to classical music, often presenting thematic and unconventional concerts aimed at engaging a broad audience. They focus on educational initiatives, such as staging concerts in primary schools across Budapest and organizing intensive programs for high school students to introduce them to the world of classical music. The orchestra performs at the Academy of Music, where it blends traditional concert hall values with innovative programming.

In recent years, the orchestra has been involved in recording projects, such as the performance of Thomas Ludwig's Symphony No. 3, which was released in 2024. Despite technical challenges in the recording process, the orchestra's precision and organization were noted, further solidifying its position among East European orchestras.
