Larry Cassidy
Lawrence John Cassidy, known as Larry Cassidy, was an English musician born on April 18, 1953, in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. He was the singer and bassist for the post-punk and electronic band Section 25. Cassidy was born into the family that owned Casdon Toys but chose a different path, studying law and sculpture in London, where he earned a first-class degree in sculpture in 1977. Inspired by punk, psychedelia, and krautrock, he returned to Blackpool and formed Section 25 in 1978 with his brother Vin on drums and Paul Wiggin on guitar. The band became associated with Factory Records in 1979, with their first single produced by Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton of Joy Division. Cassidy married Jenny Ross, who joined Section 25 as a co-vocalist in 1983. After her death in 2004, the band reunited in 2006, with their daughter Bethany joining in 2009. Larry Cassidy passed away from a blood clot on February 27, 2010, at the age of 56.
