Clarke Van Ness
Clarke Van Ness, whose real name is C. Van Ness Clark, was an American songwriter renowned for his contributions to country music, especially during the 1930s and 1940s. He co-wrote the popular country song "Filipino Baby" with Bill Cox, which became a hit in 1946 for several artists, including Ernest Tubb, who took it to #2 on the country charts. Van Ness also co-wrote "Don't Let Your Sweet Love Die," which reached #7 on the country charts in 1961, performed by Reno & Smiley. His only non-country charting success was "Silver Dollar," co-written with Jack Palmer and performed by Teresa Brewer, reaching #20 overall in 1955. Van Ness's work has been recorded by various artists, highlighting his influence in the country music genre.
