D.T. Gentry
D.T. Gentry, born Delbert T. Gentry on September 28, 1927, in Edgemont, Arkansas, was an American songwriter and U.S. Army veteran. He passed away on May 29, 2020, in Marion, Indiana. Gentry was known for his contributions to the country music genre, particularly through his work with renowned artist George Jones. Over the years, Gentry composed several songs that were featured in various albums and compilations by George Jones, including "The New Favorites of George Jones" (1962) and "Golden Hits" (1966). His work also appeared in collaborations with other artists such as Brian Hyland and the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Gentry's songwriting credits include the track "Open Pit Mine," which was recorded by multiple artists.
