Darrell Edwards, also known as DW Edwards, is a multifaceted American artist recognized for his contributions as a singer, songwriter, musician, and composer. His musical journey has been significantly influenced by legendary figures such as Pop & Mavis Staples, Amy Winehouse, Al Green, Elvis Presley, James Brown, Prince, Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, Rick James, Aretha Franklin, and Eric Clapton, among others. Edwards is celebrated for his dynamic stage presence, impressive vocal range, and a deep passion for inspirational songs across genres like jazz, funk, and R&B.
In November 2015, Edwards released an 11-song CD titled "SCUZE ME!" following the release of his EP. His performances are characterized by an extensive playlist of recognizable songs, alongside original works, making each show a unique experience. Edwards has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Carlos Reyes, Fernando Aragon, Larry Vann, Michael Warren, Phillip “Rosco” Gallo, and Kyle Hixon.
His band, DW Edwards & Lighting Up The Soul, is known for their polished performances and has graced numerous venues, including Vino Godfather Winery in Vallejo, Empress Theatre in Vallejo, and the Gold Rush Lounge in San Francisco, among others. Edwards is also credited as a co-songwriter with George Jones on the song "Tender Years," which became a #1 country hit in 1961.
