Milton de Oliveira
Milton de Oliveira was a prominent Brazilian composer born on January 25, 1916, in Rio de Janeiro, where he also passed away on December 12, 1986. His career spanned from 1934 to 1986, during which he became well-known for his contributions to samba music and Brazilian carnival marches. He wrote his first song at the age of 16 and gained recognition in 1938 when he won a contest with the song "Juro," performed by J. B. de Carvalho.
Milton de Oliveira was particularly famous for his collaborations with Haroldo Lobo, with whom he created numerous carnival hits such as "Vai acabar nosso amor" and "Pra seu governo," the latter achieving first place in the 1950 Carioca Carnival contest. His works were performed by notable artists like Nat "King" Cole, Clara Nunes, and Elza Soares, and his songs have been recorded multiple times, highlighting his lasting impact on Brazilian music.
