Andreas Spörri
Andreas Spörri is a renowned Swiss conductor and cultural promoter, recognized for his versatility and international engagements. He pursued studies in conducting, trumpet, and composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, the City of Basel Music Academy, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying under notable figures such as Eduard Tarr, Peter Mieg, and Erich Schmid. Spörri's conducting career began in 1984 with the Basel Sinfonietta and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Basel. He gained significant recognition by winning the first prize at the "Forum of Young Artists" conducting competition in Vienna in 1989.
As a cultural entrepreneur, Spörri founded several festivals and music promotion programs, including the "Hermitage Music Academie" and the "Classionata Musikfestival," where he has served as artistic director since 1999. He has been the Principal Guest Conductor and Deputy Chief Conductor of the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra since 2003, and he has conducted the Vienna Opera Ball at the Vienna State Opera annually from 2010 to 2020.
Spörri has worked with numerous prestigious orchestras worldwide, including the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Munich Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with acclaimed soloists such as Martin Grubinger and Simon Estes, and his discography includes works by Hector Berlioz and Wolfgang A. Mozart. In recognition of his contributions, he received the "Werkjahrbeitrag" in 1992 and the "Preis für Musik" from the Canton of Solothurn in 2020. Since 2022, he has been the Artistic Director and conductor of ANDO Music Productions in Basel.
