Vaclovas Augustinas
Vaclovas Augustinas (born October 17 , 1959 in Vilnius ) is a composer, choir conductor, and pedagogue.
In 1966–1976 he studied at Vilnius A. Vienuolis Secondary School , in 1966–1978 he sang in the Vilnius Teachers' House Boys and Youth Choir Ąžuoliukas . In 1976–1981 he studied choir conducting at the Lithuanian State Conservatory (class of senior lecturer H. Perelšteinas ), in 1984–1992 he studied composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music (class of professor J. Juzeliūnas ). In 1993–1995 he improved his skills at the postgraduate art school of the Department of Composition of this academy.

1979–1992. Teacher at the "Ąžuoliukas" music school, 1980–1982. Conductor of the boys' and youth choir "Ąžuoliukas", 1987–1990. Musician of the Vilnius rock band "Antis" .

Since 1996, he has been a lecturer at the Department of Choral Conducting and the Department of Composition of the Lithuanian Academy of Music , and since 1997, a lecturer at the Department of Art Education of Vilnius Pedagogical University.

Since 1992, he has been the artistic director and conductor of the Vilnius City Municipality Chamber Mixed Choir (25 participants) Jauna muzika . His work as a choirmaster with this group is the golden age of the conductor's creative and artistic maturity. The choir has prepared several hundred foreign classics and contemporary works, has also paid much attention to the promotion of contemporary Lithuanian music, and has organized about 150 concerts in Lithuania and abroad. The choir is a laureate of many international competitions: in 1992, R. Schumann Germany (Zwickau) first prize, in Hungary ( Debrecen ) first prize and Grand Prix, in 1993, Bulgaria (Varna) Grand Prix Europe, in Japan (Takarazuka) first prize and Grand Prix, in Switzerland (Neuchatel), in 1991, it received the Grand Prix at the World Lithuanian Song Festival competition in Vilnius , and in 1996, Spain (Tolosa) – first, second and third prizes. Young Music has performed in Germany , Latvia , Sweden , Austria , Israel , Finland , Denmark , Hungary , Slovenia , Italy , Norway , Switzerland , Spain and France . The choir, together with symphony and chamber orchestras, has performed major cantata-oratorio works by JS Bach , GF Handel , WA Mozart , A. Vivaldi , G. Verdi , G. Puccini , F. Schubert , I. Stravinsky, M. Ravel , E. Elegar, K. Penderecki, D. Shostakovich, A. Schönberg and other authors. Young Music has prepared complex programs of works for conductors invited to master classes from Denmark, Japan, Germany, Sweden and other countries. The choir has released two CDs and made recordings for Lithuanian and Danish radio. Young Music is a member of the International Choral Music Federation and "Europa Cantat". The choir participated in the 1998 At the 2nd World Lithuanian Song Festival in Vilnius , they performed F. Martin's Mass for the audience of the second round of the choir competition.

V. Augustinas conducted master classes and gave lectures at the 1993 Swedish Choral Conductors' Congress, the 1996 International Choral Festival in Spain , and the 1997 Klaipėda . In 1992, he received a special conductor's prize at the International Choral Competition in Debrecen (Hungary) and in 1994, the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture Prize for popularizing the works of Lithuanian composers. In 1998, he was the conductor of the 2nd World Lithuanian Song Festival in Vilnius .

Since 1993, V. Augustinas has been a member of the Lithuanian Composers' Union. He has created instrumental and vocal works. These include a cantata for mixed choir "Ask a Child's Advice", arrangements of folk songs for mixed choir "Supkit meskit" and "Treputė martela", mixed choir, soprano and symphony orchestra "Gloria", a double choir a cappella "Hymne a Saint Martin", an expanded folk song "Pūtė vėjas", a song "Bėk, kielele balta", "Rambinas" and others.
