Harry M. Woods
Henry McGregor Woods, known as Harry M. Woods, was an American songwriter born in 1896. Despite being born with a deformed left hand, his mother encouraged him to take piano lessons, which led to his career in music. Woods began writing songs during his service in World War I and went on to compose several major hits during the Tin Pan Alley era. Some of his popular songs include "When the Red, Red Robin (Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin’ Along)," "Midnight, the Stars, and You," "Side by Side," "Try a Little Tenderness," "Paddlin’ Madelin’ Home," and "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain." Unlike many of his contemporaries, Woods spent time in Britain, contributing to the film industry's music. He retired abruptly in 1945 and passed away in 1970.
