Renald Richard
Renald Joseph Richard was an American jazz composer, trumpeter, and musician born on May 3, 1925, in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He is best known for co-writing the iconic song "I Got a Woman" with Ray Charles, with whom he also played in the band. After his collaboration with Charles, Richard returned to Louisiana to work as a high school teacher and briefly served as a talent scout for Atlantic Records. He later moved to New York and subsequently to Southern Florida. Renald Richard was the father of Thaddeus Richard and was related to musicians Ray Johnson, Plas Johnson, Michael White, and Don Vappie. He passed away on November 26, 2021.
