Candela
Candela is a San Francisco-based nine-piece salsa and Latin jazz band formed in 1986 under the leadership of Uruguayan-born lead singer and conga drummer Edgardo Cambón. The ensemble features a diverse array of instruments, including piano, bass, trombones, conga drums, bongo drums, timbales, and vocals. Candela's repertoire spans various Latin music genres such as Salsa, Son, Bolero, Mambo, Cha-cha-chá, Merengue, Timba, Bachata, Cumbia, and Latin Jazz. The band has released several recordings, including "Ilusiones" (1990), "Madre Rumba, Padre Son" (2000), and "Celebrando 20 Años" (2008). Their music primarily features compositions and lyrics by Cambón, with contributions from notable arrangers like Rebeca Mauleón and Wayne Wallace.
