South German Philharmonic
The South German Philharmonic, also known as Süddeutsche Philharmonie, was a fictitious orchestra invented by Alfred Scholz. It was used as a fake orchestra credit in many of his productions. Initially, it was a short-lived ensemble assembled by Scholz before 1968, primarily consisting of members of the German Philharmonic in Prague. These musicians were expelled from Czechoslovakia after World War II and later became the core of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Most performances attributed to the South German Philharmonic were analog recordings made between 1968 and 1970 for Primaton and by the Austrian Radio and SWF prior to 1977.
