Ekaterina Murina
Ekaterina Murina, born on November 28, 1938, in Leningrad, is a distinguished Russian pianist and professor. Coming from a family of hereditary musicians, she was immersed in an artistic environment from a young age, which fostered her exceptional musical talent. She pursued her studies at the Leningrad Conservatory, where she was mentored by Pavel Serebryakov, a renowned pianist and People's Artist of the USSR. Under his guidance, she developed a refined technique and a profound emotional expression in her performances.

Murina's early achievements include winning prestigious competitions such as the All-Union competition in Vienna in 1959 and another international competition in Great Britain in 1963, which established her reputation as an outstanding pianist. After graduating from the conservatory in 1961 and completing her postgraduate studies in 1964, she became a professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There, she has been instrumental in nurturing a new generation of pianists, many of whom have become laureates of international competitions.

In addition to her teaching career, Murina is celebrated for her performances both in Russia and internationally, collaborating with esteemed conductors like Kirill Kondrashin, Andris Jansons, and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. She has premiered works by Leningrad composers such as Yuri Falik and Boris Tishchenko, contributing significantly to the local musical heritage.

Murina also conducts master classes globally, in countries like Germany, the UK, Finland, South Korea, and China, sharing the Russian musical tradition with a broader audience. Her participation as a jury member in various international piano competitions and her role in organizing the Pavel Serebryakov Young Pianists Competition highlight her commitment to supporting young talents.
