Annie Lennox
Annie Lennox, born Ann Lennox on December 25, 1954, in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a renowned Scottish singer-songwriter, political activist, and philanthropist. Raised in a working-class neighborhood, she displayed musical talent from a young age, playing a toy piano at age three and joining a local choir by age six. She later studied flute, piano, and harpsichord at the Royal Academy of Music in London, although she left before completing her final exams, feeling disconnected from the cultural environment.

In the mid-1970s, while working at a vegetarian restaurant in Hampstead, London, Lennox met guitarist Dave Stewart. They formed a band named the Catch, later renamed the Tourists, achieving moderate success. However, it was as part of the Eurythmics with Stewart in the 1980s that Lennox gained international fame, known for her powerful and androgynous stage presence. The duo produced hits like "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)".

Lennox launched a successful solo career in 1992 with her debut album, Diva, featuring hits such as "Why" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Her subsequent albums, including Medusa, Bare, and Songs of Mass Destruction, further cemented her status as a leading artist. Over her career, Lennox has received numerous accolades, including eight Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Into the West" from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Known for her contralto vocal range, Lennox has been celebrated as "The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive" by VH1 and one of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stone. By 2008, she had sold over 80 million records worldwide, including her work with Eurythmics. Beyond music, Lennox is a dedicated activist, particularly in the fight against AIDS, and has been recognized for her charitable efforts.

Lennox has been married three times and has two daughters, Lola and Tali. Her personal and professional journey reflects her continuous evolution as an artist and activist, making her one of the most influential figures in contemporary music history.
