Les Machucambos
Les Machucambos was a music band formed in Paris in 1959. The original lineup included Spanish guitarist Rafael Gayoso, Peruvian guitarist Milton Zapata, and Costa Rican singer Julia Cortés, who was the granddaughter of President León Cortés Castro. In 1960, Milton Zapata was replaced by Italian guitarist Romano Zanotti. The band gained significant popularity with their hit song "Pepito," which became a number one hit in 1961. After Julia Cortés retired in 1972, the band continued with various lead singers, including María Licata (1973-1980), Florence, María Aparecida (1976-1980), Chilean singer Mariana Montalvo (1980-2005), and Haileey from 2006 onwards. Les Machucambos is known for their extensive discography and contributions to Latin music.
