Extra Trio Plus
Extra Trio Plus is a jazz ensemble founded in 1997 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The group quickly became an influential part of the city's cultural scene. The ensemble is composed of alto saxophone, double-bass, drums, and piano, with saxophonist Eugene Strigalev leading the group. Strigalev's compositions are a significant component of their repertoire, and the ensemble is known for its unique blend of 1950s-60s American jazz traditions with a distinct St. Petersburg sound.

The members of Extra Trio Plus include Eugene Strigalev on alto saxophone, Alexander Mashin on drums, Gregory Voskoboynik on double-bass, and Nikolay Sizov on piano. Strigalev, born in 1977, was mentored by the legendary Russian jazz saxophonist Gennady Golstein and has been influenced by jazz greats like Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. Mashin, born in 1976, has been a prominent figure in the Russian jazz scene, performing with notable musicians such as Benny Golson. Voskoboynik, born in 1970, is both a classical and jazz musician, while Sizov, born in 1971, is recognized as one of the leading jazz pianists in St. Petersburg.

The ensemble's only known album, "Daylight Photography," was released in 2003 under the Memo Music label and features compositions by Eugene Strigalev. The album showcases the group's virtuosic improvisation and harmonic inventiveness, qualities that have captivated audiences and critics alike.
