Maria Luiza Jobim
Maria Luiza Lontra Jobim, born on March 20, 1987, is a Brazilian singer and composer known for her work in genres such as bossa nova, synth-pop, MPB, pop, and lo-fi. She is the daughter of the legendary Brazilian musician Tom Jobim and Ana Jobim. Maria Luiza began her musical journey at a young age, participating in her father's 1994 album "Antonio Brasileiro," where she sang on tracks like "Samba de Maria Luiza" and "Forever Green." This album won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Performance the following year.
Maria Luiza was the vocalist for the band Baleia and was part of the electronic music duo Opala with Lucas de Paiva. In 2006, she collaborated with her nephew, Daniel Jobim, to record the Portuguese version of "Wave" for the opening theme of the Rede Globo telenovela "Páginas da Vida." In 2019, she released her debut solo album, "Casa Branca," which marked a significant shift in her career towards Brazilian popular music, with all lyrics in Portuguese. The album was produced by Alexandre Kassin and included collaborations with Lucas Vasconcellos. Maria Luiza's music reflects her rich musical heritage and personal experiences, particularly her childhood memories with her father.
