Pablo Fernández
Pablo Fernández is a distinguished tuba player and educator from Spain. He serves as the principal tuba (currently on leave) of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC) and is a tuba instructor at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, as well as at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) in Barcelona and the Superior School of Music Forum Musikae in Madrid. Fernández is a founding member and president of the Spanish Tuba and Euphonium Association (AETYB) and sits on the board of the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA).
He has an extensive performance history, having toured globally and performed in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Fernández has premiered significant works, such as the "Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra" by Pere Josep Puértolas, and has recorded with labels like Decca and EMI. His collaborations include performances with renowned orchestras and artists, and he has been recognized with two Latin Grammy Awards for "Best Classical Album."
In addition to his performance career, Fernández is active in education, frequently giving masterclasses across Europe and teaching at various prestigious institutions. He also contributes to the field through his involvement with various musical ensembles and projects, such as the "Tuba Lírica" with pianist Rafael Salinas.
