Edy Herrera
Eddy Herrera, born Eduardo José Herrera de los Ríos on April 30, 1964, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, is a renowned merengue musician. He began his musical journey at the age of nine when he received a guitar as a birthday gift from his father. Herrera's early musical education included lessons from a specialized guitar teacher, which helped him develop his skills in playing and singing romantic songs.

At 15, Herrera participated in the Festival of the Voice of Santiago, securing second place, and won first place at 17. Despite initially pursuing architecture at the Pontifical, Catholic University Madre y Maestra, he left after two and a half years to join Wilfrido Vargas's musical group, marking the start of his professional music career.

Herrera's first major hit, "El Jardinero," was released three months after joining Vargas's group. He remained with the group until 1989, after which he embarked on a solo career. His solo debut was in 1990, and since then, he has released numerous successful albums and singles, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the merengue genre.

Throughout his career, Eddy Herrera has received numerous accolades, including more than seven Casandra Awards and a Latin Grammy Award for Best Merengue/Bachata Album for "Ahora" at the 21st Latin Grammy Awards.
