Los Sabrosos Del Merengue
Los Sabrosos Del Merengue is a musical group from Puerto Rico, founded in 1984. They gained significant recognition in the 1990s, bringing their music to parts of Europe and the United States. During this decade, they also achieved success in the Dominican Republic, the birthplace of merengue ripiao. The group initially consisted of four singers and has undergone various lineup changes over the years, with each new member leaving their mark. They have managed to adapt to contemporary popular dance music while maintaining their essence.

Entering the new century, they reinvented themselves musically, expanding their sound and changing their name to Los Nuevos Sabrosos since 2000. They became known for several hits from the 1990s, including "Soltero y sabroso," "La chica de la escuela," "No me importa," "No lloraré," and "Escúchame," among others. Throughout their musical career, they have recorded over twenty studio albums.

Originally, they were called El Sabor del Merengue, but changed their name a year after their founding due to another group having already registered that name. The name change to Los Nuevos Sabrosos was part of their evolution and reinvention, as explained by Yetzenia Rivera, the orchestra's owner, in an interview.

The group was founded in the mid-1980s by Antonio Rivera "Toño Matraco." During that time, several Puerto Rican salsa musicians and singers decided to perform Dominican merengue due to the declining popularity of salsa and the rising interest in merengue. This experience in the Puerto Rican salsa scene allowed them to navigate the recording industry more smoothly. The group was formed with a front of four singers, always supported by top-notch musicians and directed by Toño Matraco.

Los Sabrosos Del Merengue started by performing merengue and have since ventured into various genres of popular, Caribbean, and international music, including ballads, rock in Spanish, and even reggaeton.
