Adalberto Santiago
Adalberto Santiago Berrios, born on April 23, 1937, in the Pozas barrio of Ciales, Puerto Rico, is a renowned salsa singer celebrated for his relaxed and flawless lead vocals. Influenced by Cuban vocalists Beny Moré and Miguelito Cuní, Santiago began his musical career playing guitar and bass with trios. His career took off when he joined Ray Barretto's band in 1966, contributing to eight studio albums and becoming a founding member of The Fania All-Stars. Santiago later co-founded Típica 73 and Los Kimbos, recording several albums with each group. As a solo artist, he released albums like "Adalberto," "Feliz Me Siento," and "Cosas Del Alma," showcasing his versatility in salsa and bolero genres. Santiago's collaborations include work with Lou Pérez, Louie Ramírez, and Roberto Roena, among others. Known as "The Puerto Rican Elvis Presley," Santiago's contributions to salsa music have solidified his status as one of the genre's greatest talents.
