Jose Toledano
José Toledano Carnicer, born in Madrid in 1930, was a prominent Spanish flamenco dancer, known as a "bailaor." He was active in the flamenco scene, touring with renowned dancers such as Pilar López, Carmen Amaya, Mariemma, Sol Hurok, and Ana María. In 1962, Toledano established his own ballet company, which debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York. Following this, he toured extensively across Western Europe, Latin America, and Islamic countries like Morocco and Lebanon, gaining critical acclaim and public admiration.
Toledano also appeared in films, including "Patio andaluz" (1958), "La Reina Mora" (1955), and "Cabaret" (1953). His discography includes collaborations with artists like Carlos Montoya and Pablo Miquel, with notable releases such as "Jose Toledano's 'Danza Teatro' (Ritmos Españoles)" in 1950 and "Guitarra Flamenca" in 1977. He also released a single, "España Vale un Perú," in 1961 with Luisa de Córdoba. José Toledano passed away in Miami in 1987.
