Meg Tevelian
Meguerditsch "Meg" Tevelian was an Armenian guitarist and bandleader born in 1902 in Turkey. He fled Turkey in 1921 due to the persecution of Armenians and settled in Berlin, where he became a sought-after musician for concerts, dance, and studio work. Tevelian was active in both jazz and popular music, working with notable bandleaders such as Oskar Joost, Willy Berking, and Benny de Weille. He recorded with various orchestras and was involved in 234 jazz recording sessions between 1937 and 1949. During the late 1930s and early 1940s, he played with Charlie and His Orchestra and other ensembles. In 1942, he recorded under his own name with the Kleines Tanz-Orchester Meg Tevelian, producing music that included swing-oriented dance numbers. After moving to Vienna in 1943, he worked with the Harmona Orchester Othmar Šerhák and other groups before eventually leaving the music industry. Meg Tevelian passed away on October 23, 1976, in Vienna, Austria.
