Georges Boulanger
Georges Boulanger, born George Pantazi on April 18, 1893, in Tulcea, Romania, was a renowned Romanian violinist, conductor, and composer. Coming from a Romani family with a rich musical heritage, Boulanger was deeply influenced by his father, Vasile Pantazi, who was also a musician. At the age of 12, Boulanger received a scholarship to study at the Conservatory in Bucharest. His talent caught the attention of the famous violinist Leopold Auer, who invited him to Dresden for further study.

Boulanger's career flourished in Berlin, where he made his first radio recording in 1926. He became well-known for his performances in prestigious venues across Europe, including the Savoy Hotel in London. His music, characterized by a blend of Romani, Balkan, and Viennese influences, was popular in radio broadcasts and live performances. Boulanger composed over 300 pieces, many of which were recorded on 78rpm shellac records.

After World War II, Boulanger moved to Brazil, where he continued his career with performances at the Copacabana Palace Hotel and various cities across the country. Eventually, he settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with his wife, Ellinor, and their two daughters, Nora and Georgette. Georges Boulanger passed away on June 3, 1958, in Olivos, Buenos Aires, leaving behind a legacy of salon music that remains celebrated for its emotive and cultural depth.
