Guenther Herzog
Günter "Duke" Herzog (* July 22, 1910, in Breslau; † December 1, 1942, in Sytschowka) was a German jazz and entertainment musician known for his work as a trumpeter and bandleader. During the 1930s, he played in the orchestras of Erhard Bauschke and Teddy Stauffer. In 1938, Herzog founded his own medium-sized dance orchestra, which performed in Berlin at venues like the Delphi-Palast and the Rosita-Bar, quickly gaining recognition among jazz fans. He recorded several records under his own name in 1938 and 1939, including "Limehouse Blues." Herzog was involved in 16 recording sessions with Bauschke's orchestra between 1936 and 1938. At the onset of World War II, he was drafted and later died on the Eastern Front.
