Willie Lewis
William T. Lewis, known as Willie Lewis, was an influential American jazz clarinetist and bandleader, born on June 10, 1905, in Cleburne, Texas, and passed away on January 13, 1971, in New York City. Lewis spent his formative years in Dallas, where he honed his musical skills by performing in variety shows during his teenage years. His pursuit of music led him to the New England Conservatory of Music, after which he joined Will Marion Cook's orchestra.

When Sam Wooding took over Cook's band, Lewis embarked on international tours across Europe, South America, and North Africa with the orchestra, remaining with them until the group disbanded in 1931. Subsequently, Lewis established his own band, continuing to contribute to the jazz scene. His career is marked by his role as a clarinetist and bandleader, leaving a lasting impact on the jazz genre.
