Jimmy Wilson
Jimmy Wilson, possibly born Jimmie Ned Wilson on January 21, 1918, or in 1921/23 in Louisiana, was an American West Coast blues singer. He was best known for his 1953 hit "Tin Pan Alley," which reached number 10 on the US Billboard R&B chart. Wilson's career began in California, where he sang with a gospel quartet, the Pilgrim Travelers. He was discovered by Bob Geddins, who recorded him in Oakland in 1951, initially with Bob Geddins' Cavaliers. Wilson recorded for several labels, including Aladdin Records and Big Town Records, often with guitarist Lafayette Thomas. Despite the success of "Tin Pan Alley," Wilson struggled to maintain his initial success. He later recorded for Goldband Records and Duke Records. Wilson became an alcoholic and died in Dallas, Texas, on either February 5, 1965, or February 24, 1966. His song "Please Accept My Love" was later recorded by B.B. King and Elton Anderson.
